INTIMACY WITH JESUS

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

HOW TO KNOW JESUS

WHO IS JESUS?

Jesus is the human or flesh incarnate of the only begotten Son of God (the Father), who also is the second of the God-head, essentially making Him God (Col. 2:9). He is the complete expression of the divine nature (Col. 1:15).

[Now] He is the exact likeness of the unseen God [the visible representation of the invisible]; He is the Firstborn of all creation.
(Col 1:15 AMP)

For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine nature].
(Col 2:9 AMP)

WHY IS JESUS MANKIND'S SAVIOUR?

He is the only one who has God's mark of approval through whom man should be saved (Col. 1:19-20,22; Acts 4:12).

For it has pleased [the Father] that all the divine fullness (the sum total of the divine perfection, powers, and attributes) should dwell in Him permanently.
And God purposed that through ( by the service, the intervention of) Him [the Son] all things should be completely reconciled back to Himself, whether on earth or in heaven, as through Him, [the Father] made peace by means of the blood of His cross.
And although you at one time were estranged and alienated from Him and were of hostile attitude of mind in your wicked activities,
Yet now has [Christ, the Messiah] reconciled [you to God] in the body of His flesh through death, in order to present you holy and faultless and irreproachable in His [the Father's] presence.
(Col 1:19-22 AMP)

And there is salvation in and through no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by and in which we must be saved.
(Acts 4:12 AMP)

In other words, Jesus lived His days on earth as any other human but at the same time He was unique in that He was God (Phil. 2:5-11).

Our attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death — even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
(Phil 2:5-11 NIV)

He lived His days on earth to fulfill his divine mandate; reconciling man and the world back to God.

When Jesus asked, he who is without sin cast the first stone, no man was left standing.

This means that, it can only take one who is without sin to accuse guilt or justify or atone for sin. Only Jesus qualifies to atone for our sins because He alone lived to fulfill his assignment without sin (in absolute perfection).

HOW TO HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS

Relationship with Jesus Christ begins with:
Hearing the message, the word of truth about Jesus and His Kingdom.
Repentance, which means:

  1. Understanding clearly the message heard and believing (accepting the truth) it.
  2. Experirncing a deep and sincere inner sorrow and regret for sin and not living in the will of God.
  3. Believing (having the faith) in the Person of Jesus, that He is the Son of God and man's only saviour as God testifies of Him (Romans 10:9-10).

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
    (Rom 10:9-11 NIV)

  4. Confessing this faith and conviction with the mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour.
  5. Invitation of Jesus into our hearts and lives and a total surrender of our lives to Him.
  6. Forsaking and turning away form our old sinflul ways and living to please Jesus alone.
